Drama/Theater (Home school courses offered on Friday)
Drama I (Grades 1-3)
In a fun yet structured setting, young students learn how to recite simple lines, stage and drama concepts and are introduced to performing before small audiences. Much of this is done through the hearing and acting out of storytelling and pretending.
Drama II (Grades 4-6)
Students learn the parts of the stage, concepts of basic theater technique and how to take direction. Students learn scripts, how to interact with others in a drama setting, formulating and delivering a character and projection, diction and enunciation. Students are expected to memorize and perform before audiences.
Drama III (Grades 7-12)
Students will be learning a variety of character building techniques as well as how to write and perform their own 20 min play. This course includes the following topics: character acting verses method acting and defining, Shakespeare, Jane Austin, history of Vaudeville, costume design, mimic icons, how to become a back stage hand, improve, tongue twisters, drama exercises and games, and the every-day importance of warm-ups.
